Calculate total brick wall height easily with our free Brick Course Height Calculator. Get instant results in mm, inches, feet, or meters with full breakdown.
Are you wondering how tall your brick wall will be with a certain number of courses? Our Brick Course Height Calculator makes it incredibly simple to estimate the total height of brickwork in inches, feet, millimeters, or centimeters. Whether you're a DIY homeowner, contractor, architect, or student, this tool helps you avoid guesswork and get fast, reliable measurements.
We developed this calculator to help users quickly find out the total height of any number of brick courses, including mortar joints. It also gives unit conversions and step-by-step calculation results based on your input.
A brick course refers to one horizontal row of bricks. When calculating the height of a course, we must include both the brick height and the mortar thickness. This is crucial because mortar joints are laid between every brick and can significantly affect the final wall height, especially over many courses.
To calculate the total height of a brick wall, use this formula:
Total Height = (Brick Height + Mortar Thickness) × Number of Courses − Mortar Thickness
This formula ensures that you don’t count the top mortar joint (which doesn't exist above the last course). It gives the total wall height from the ground to the top brick, not including any additional finishing.
Example Calculation:
Let’s say:
Total Height = (65 + 10) × 10 − 10 = 750 − 10 = 740 mm
If you want this in feet:
740 mm ÷ 304.8 = 2.43 feet
So, the height of 10 courses is 740 mm or approximately 2.43 feet.
Using the calculator is easy:
You’ll also see the calculation steps, so you can understand exactly how the final height was calculated.
Wondering how many inches 3 courses of bricks are? Or how high a stack of 20 bricks will be in feet? Our calculator answers these questions instantly.
For example:
If you want to know how high is 31 courses, just enter the values and get the result in feet or inches as needed.
Whether you’re building a garden wall, planning a house extension, or just curious, our Brick Course Height Calculator saves time and ensures accurate measurements. It helps you estimate material needs, project timelines, and even visual proportions for your construction work. The ability to work across different units like inches, feet, and millimeters adds to the flexibility.
This tool is free to use, user-friendly, and backed by the real formulas used in the construction and masonry industries. We built it to make brick height calculation as simple and reliable as possible for everyone.
A brick course is a single horizontal layer or row of bricks in a wall.
With standard US bricks (2.25 inches tall and 0.375 inch mortar), 3 courses = 6.75 inches.
If using 65 mm bricks with 10 mm mortar, 10 courses = 740 mm or 2.43 feet.
This depends on the brick and mortar size. Standard bricks with mortar will make a stack of around 52 inches or 4.34 feet.
Yes! You can input and get results in mm, cm, m, inches, or feet.
Because the topmost course of bricks doesn’t have mortar above it, so we don’t count that last layer of mortar.
