Percent of Full Scale Formula

For the range position, the calculator uses:

%FS = [(X − Xmin) ÷ (Xmax − Xmin)] × 100

Here:

  • X = measured value
  • Xmin = lower range limit
  • Xmax = upper range limit

The span is:

Span = Xmax − Xmin

If the range starts at zero, the formula gets even easier:

%FS = (80 ÷ 200) × 100

This is not the same as percent of reading. A full-scale error uses the full range as its base.
