Calculate your U.S. water bill fast with our Water Bill calculator. Add water use, rates, fixed fees, sewer costs, and other charges with ease.
A water bill can feel hard to read. A Water Bill calculator makes the math easy. It can show your water cost in a few steps. You can add a fixed fee, water use, and your local rate. You can also add sewer or other fees.
This tool fits U.S. water bills. Rates can vary by city and water utility. So, use the rate on your latest bill.
For a flat rate, use this formula:
Water Bill = Fixed Charge + (Water Use × Water Rate) + Sewer Charge + Other Charges
If you don't add sewer or other fees, leave them out.
For meter use, first find your water use:
Water Use = Current Meter Reading − Previous Meter Reading
If your meter shows cubic feet, you can change it to gallons:
Gallons = Cubic Feet × 7.48052
One CCF is 100 cubic feet. One CCF is about 748.052 gallons.
For a tier rate, each use block can have its own rate:
Water Charge = Sum of (Tier Use × Tier Rate)
Then add the fixed fee and any other bill fees.
Say your old meter reads 10,000 cubic feet. Your new meter reads 12,000 cubic feet.
Your use is:
12,000 − 10,000 = 2,000 cubic feet
Now change that to CCF:
2,000 ÷ 100 = 20 CCF
Say your fixed fee is $25. Your water rate is $6 per CCF. Your sewer fee is $20. Other fees are $5.
Water charge:
20 × $6 = $120
Final bill:
$25 + $120 + $20 + $5 = $170
So, your water bill is $170.
Think of the fixed fee as the cover charge. Your water use is the part that grows as you use more.
There is no one normal price in the U.S. Water rates vary by utility. A bill can also include sewer and other fees. Your home size, water use, and local rates can change the total.
The best check is your own utility rate. Look at the rate on your bill. Then enter that rate in the calculator.
A Water Bill calculator can save time and cut math errors. It works with common U.S. units and rate types. It can also show a tiered water charge. Just use the rates from your local utility. Then the result can give you a clear bill estimate.
Use this formula:
Water Bill = Fixed Charge + Water Use × Water Rate + Other Fees
For a meter bill, subtract the old meter reading from the new one first.
