Use our Factorio Production Calculator to find output rates, craft time, machine needs, and production ratios with simple math.
| Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Effective Speed = Base Speed × (1 + Speed Bonus) | Crafting speed after speed modules/beacons |
| Cycle Time = Recipe Time ÷ Effective Speed | Real time to complete one crafting cycle |
| Production/sec = Output × Effective Speed ÷ Recipe Time × (1 + Productivity) | Items produced per second per machine |
| Machines = CEIL(Target/sec ÷ Production/sec) | Whole machines needed to meet a target rate |
| Input/sec = Ingredient Qty × Effective Speed ÷ Recipe Time | Ingredient consumption — productivity bonus does not reduce this |
Factorio rewards good plans. Small math errors can slow your whole base.
Our Factorio Production Calculator helps you plan your factory with less work. You can find item rates, craft time, and machine needs in one place.
Think of it as a map for your factory. You enter the recipe time and machine speed. The tool then shows how fast the machine can work. You can also find how many machines you need.
This makes factory planning much less of a pain.
The main math is easy.
Effective Crafting Speed = Base Crafting Speed × (1 + Speed Bonus)
Actual Cycle Time = Recipe Time ÷ Effective Crafting Speed
Production Per Second = Output Per Cycle × Effective Crafting Speed ÷ Recipe Time × (1 + Productivity Bonus)
Production Per Minute = Production Per Second × 60
Machines Needed = Target Production Per Second ÷ Production Per Second Per Machine
Input Per Second = Input Per Recipe × Effective Crafting Speed ÷ Recipe Time
Factorio uses recipe time at craft speed 1. A machine can then change that time with its craft speed.
Productivity can add more output from the same input. Its bonus is added to the process and gives extra products over time.
Let's use an Assembling Machine 3. Its normal craft speed is 1.25.
Suppose a recipe takes 0.5 seconds. One craft makes one item. There is no speed or productivity bonus.
Effective Crafting Speed = 1.25 × (1 + 0) = 1.25
Actual Cycle Time = 0.5 ÷ 1.25 = 0.4 seconds
Production Per Second = 1 × 1.25 ÷ 0.5 = 2.5 items
Production Per Minute = 2.5 × 60 = 150 items
Now set a goal of 1,200 items per minute.
Target Per Second = 1,200 ÷ 60 = 20 items
Machines Needed = 20 ÷ 2.5 = 8 machines
So, you need 8 Assembling Machine 3 units for this rate.
It works like adding more checkout lanes. More lanes let more goods move at once.
This same math can power a Factorio output calculator, Factorio production rate calculator, or Factorio production ratio calculator. It can also help with a Factorio production chain calculator and Factorio production line calculator.
A Factorio Production Calculator can save time when you build a large base. It turns recipe data into clear rates.
You can plan your machines before you place them. You can also find weak links in a long chain.
The tool can work as a Factorio calculator for production or a Factorio production speed calculator. It can also aid power planning when machine count affects power use.
It is a tool that finds rates and machine needs from recipe data.
Use recipe output, recipe time, and machine craft speed. Then add any valid productivity bonus.
It shows the balance between machines, inputs, and outputs in a factory.
It can handle core rate math without a game mod. A mod may add extra game data or tools.
It shows how much an item a machine can make per second or minute.
