We built this tool for runners like you those who want to plan better and finish stronger.
A running split is the time it takes to complete a section of your total run. Think of it like slicing a pizza each slice represents a part of your race. For example, if you're running 10 kilometers and you want to check your pace every 2 kilometers, each 2K chunk is a split.
Splits help you stay on track. They show if you're too fast, too slow, or just right.
It takes your total distance, total run time, and how often you want splits then it shows you the time for each segment. You can pick your split strategy too:
Even Splits
Each section takes the same time. Perfect for steady pacing.
Negative Splits
Each section gets faster. Great for strong finishes.
Positive Splits
Each section gets slower. Useful for uphill races or fatigue training.
Relay Splits
Break down your race into parts for different runners.
It’s easy just follow these steps:
Step 1: Enter Your Total Distance
Choose from kilometers, miles, meters, or yards.
Step 2: Add Your Total Time
Put in the hours, minutes, and seconds you’ll take.
Step 3: Choose Your Split Distance
This could be every 1 km, every mile, or any other unit.
Step 4: Pick a Strategy
Even, negative, positive, or relay.
Step 5: Click Calculate
Boom! You’ll get your split times instantly.
We don’t want to bore you with math, but here’s how it works:
For Even Splits:
Split Time = Total Time ÷ Number of Splits
For Negative or Positive Splits:
Each Split Time = Starting Time × (1 ± Percentage)^Segment Number
This means each split changes based on the strategy and how much faster or slower you want to go.
Example:
You're running 10 km in 50 minutes. You want 5 splits (every 2 km).
Even Split Time = 50 ÷ 5 = 10 minutes per 2 km.
For a Negative Split (5%), your first split is about 11:41, and your last split is around 9:33.
This gives you a fast finish!
